Subject: Something to slap red paint over so I choosed demons. Wanted something else, so borrowed a little from The Bane (faction from Crucible game) and Rogue Trader.
Dmons are beings from another dimension, inmaterial and such. They are willing to enter our dimension and prey on us so they need either to possess someone or to be infused into something.
Thus, they create stone objects to be a vector of "extra dimensional infection" or possession (Devilman or Demons, the 80s flick). The other way is to create stone larvas, like golems. The more sacrifices of sentient beings, the stronger is the dmon born from the blood soaked stone larva. The smallest wound or scratch with an object made out of such stone could also infect a living being with demonic soul.
According to that fluff, I imagined a big ass dmon split in half. These halves started to regenerate sepparatedly, that's why its arm looks like a big face.
The black half is meant to be a shard of demonic stone (HostStone ?) while the red part is flesh in the vein of Marvel's symbiontes. The red goo (demonic flesh) bleeds out of the stone when it absorbs blood.
Purpose: to test Blood and Fire red paint set from Scalecolor (and decide wich range of paints, this or their Fantasy & Games -F&G from now on- I will stick to).
Thoughts: Didn't knew what to do with the soulstone, in the end I went for a space dust/universe texture.
On the reds, pros over the fantasy range is that those Scalecolor paints are really dense as it's medium is gel based. You can thin them down a lot and using them is really satisfiying.
Color selection speaking, this set is superior to F&G as it includes more red hues and just 1 orange, 1 purple and 1 yellow. wich makes a lot of sense when you are buying a RED paint set.
The step by step tutorial wich I followed is clearer and better than the other range's too.
Finally, those dry super matt. It's a nice bonus depending on what you are looking for.
I can't recommend Scalecolor paints enought. Experienced painters will get an absurd amount of features they'll love, from rich colors to smooth blendings, while regular painters will have a quality product offering great coverage and a satisfying experience on aplication.
If I had to choose between regular scalecolor and their F&G range, based on final results I would recommend this one over, specially to bust painters and people pursuing the sheer joy of paint.
What you see isn't just the set tho. I finished the model adding few fantasy and games touches to make both pieces (see review part 2) look similar.
I also pumped contrast and vibrancy glazing greenstuff intensity inks. And this is maybe this range biggest con: it's not bottled magic, the recipe gives you great results but you need few extra steps (totally makes sense tho) and ingredients to get the wow factor.
In the end I purchased the whole F&G range. Why I did so, being so happy with those? You'll find the answer in my next entry. Stay tuned folks!

Para las pruebas de rojo, un demoño. Quería algo diferente, a caballo entre los Bane de Crucible y Rogue Trader.
Los Dmoños son seres extradimensionales e inmateriales y no piensan en otra cosa que colarse en nuestra dimensión y liarla parda. Para ello deben poseer un cuerpo o ser imbuidos en un objeto.
Por ello, crean objetos que sean vectores de infección extraplanar; tallas en piedra (Devilman, la peli Demons...). Cuanto mas se baña la larva pétrea con sangre de seres conscientes (sacrificios) mas poderoso es el demonio creado en nuestra dimensión. Una herida de esta piedra también podría "infectar" un ser material con Alma Demoníaca.
Según esta base, imaginé un Demoño tocho al que le han dado pal pelo partiéndolo en 2: por eso el brazo parece media cara que se regenera (carne demoníaca estilo simbionte de cómic, esta sustancia se genera cuando la piedra empapa sangre) sobre la mitad negra, que sería una astilla de la piedra huesped.
Puestos en materia (mini modelada en Mayo 2019), el proposito de crear esta pieza era reseñar las pinturas de scale 75 y decidir entre la gama normal O la fantasy and games.
Blood and fire (red) Scalecolor paintset.
Sin estar seguro de como abordar las piedras alma, decidí que fueran la superficie fuera un lienzo galáctico en movimiento.
Rojos: más densos que fantasy & games (F&G), puesto que su medium es tipo gel. Esto permite buenos pinceles secos y poder diluirlas hasta extremos ridículos sin que la pintura se separe del agua. Da gusto o esa cremosidad y lo bien que se diluye. Secan super mate.
La selección de colores es superior a la de F&G puesto que de 8 botes, 1 es amarillo, 1 naranja y otro morado. Tiene sentido que la mayoría de colores sean rojos cuando compras un set para pintar... Rojos!
El folleto con el paso a paso es claro y útil. Mejor que el incluido en F&G.
Cualquier recomendación es poca: se me antoja un producto de gran calidad, del cual los pintores veteranos van a aprovechar muchas prestaciones, para degradar y fundir colores en húmedo y a su vez, los pintores normales van a tener un producto de calidad con buena cubrición, adecuado para el pincel seco y muy satisfactorio (como untar mantequilla) de diluir y usar.
Si tuviera que elegir entre estas y las F&G, basándome en el resultado final recomendaría éstas, sobretodo a gente que pinte Bustos o que busca el disfrute pintando.
Lo que veis no es lo que hay; al final le di unos toques de F&G para unificar el resultado con la prueba de la siguiente entrada.
Los retoques finales fueron enriquecer las sombras con morados, unos filtros de rojo para aumentar la intensidad, etc todo ello con tintas de greenstuff world. Y esta es la mayor contra del producto, por decir algo. No es magia en bote, requiere de otros productos (scale tambien tiene tintas) y técnicas para alcanzar su máximo potencial. Lo que es totalmente lógico, sea dicho.
Y al final me compré toda la gama F&G en lugar de esta. Por qué, si me gusta tanto? La respuesta en la siguiente reseña. Un par de días.
