Living Dead *wip*... Girl

Original mini sculpted by Sergi V.S. for Farsa's Wagon. Really cute. I painted her in the late 90s. About a month ago I decided to give INSTAMOLD a go, a suggested by many fellow bloggers, plus I teached a couple of things about mouldmaking to my wife (she moulded and casted it in greenstuff).

While she was creating her 1st terrain piece ever (!) I took care of the blades with a xacto knife, drilled a couple of holes here and there, and sculpted several details, like "evil dead" eyes, longer hairdo, arm's bone, etc. in tamiya epoxy putty. It works like greenstuff but setting time is longer and results are quite harder.

So this happens when a girl is bitten by a blob of undead putty!

Miniatura originalmente modelada por Sergi V.S. para Farsa's Wagon. Muy mona. La pinté allá por los 90s. Mi intención era usar por fin el INSTAMOLD tal como me habían sugerido ya unos cuantos blogueros, asín que aproveché para darle a mi mujel una mini clase de moldes. El casting es por presión, utilizando masilla verde.

Mientras ella hacía su 1ª pieza de escenografía (!) yo le amputé un brazo, las espadas, hice un par de bujeros y con masilla epóxica tamilla añadí detalles como ojos "posesión infernal", un peinado mas largo, etc. Esta masilla tiene n tiempo de curado mas prolongado que la verde y fragua as dura.

Y esto es lo que pasa cuando te muerde un pedazo de masilla nomuerta!

Mas detalles sobre la pintura en mi entrada anterior. Perdón por las fotos, últimamente uso mucho la cámara del teléfono. Gracias por pasarse por aquí, mozos!

Army Painter's rotten flesh warpaint, Vallejo's heavy yellow for the eyes, plus heavy grey (hair). Then Army painter's washes (strong, soft and dark tone) Vallejo's matt varish and then tamiya clear red on top for random blood-gore. In a nutshell; army painter. As sinple as it can get. Básicamente solo tiene un color, el piel muertecilla de army painter warpaints. Un poquito de amarillo denso para los ojos y gris denso para la perlana. A partir de ahí, lavados de army painter (washes) en tono suave, fuerte y oscuro a pincel. Mate vallejo y tamiya rojo trans para la sangre. Rápido y divertido. En la siguiente entrada, el wip y detalles sobre técnica y materiales del modelado.

Black Saturday

Anna Gay and Hector Mora officially married saturday the 30th. Spent great moments (and still do) with him and others long way back (childhood, but mostly teens). He is special to me and she happens to be one of the nicest persons I've ever met (so cheerful) so I made the the wedding's cake topping figures.

Of course they work on tv and bombed us with fake tv spots (ah! being the name of a fake show wich stands for ana+hector). Spents lots of time with this. I better don't speak about how alcoholic beverages ravaged our dignity later on...

 

Just for the record, even so simplified, the figures do resemble them really well.

 

Hope to update with 2 new figures (on my usual style) this week. TOAST!

Ana Gay y Hector Mora se casaron este sábado 30. Pasé la infancia y la adolescencia en particular con este mamoncete y con otro(s) que prefiero no nombrar ;) Un tío especial para mi y ella una de las dos personas mas majas que he conocido en la vida. Asín que, que leches, les hice los moñequitos del pastel.

Por supuesto, curran los dos en TV y nos bombardearon con anuncios de la boda en plan telebasura, ah! siendo el programa ficticio de culebreo, acrónimo de ana+hector. He pasado una locura de tiempo con el encarguito, estoy francamente exhausto, pero ha merecido cada segundo. Se parecen un montón, por cierto.

Del deterioro personal fruto del consumo de sustancias que solo debieran usarse para desinfectar heridas, mejor no hablo.

Y esta semanita, 2 minis mas (pendientes de foto) narizotes!!

Been Away Too Long

First song from King Animal (soundgarden) came to my mind while planing this comeback. In the end most of titles here are based somehow on song names anyway...

I wish to say sorry to everyone whoever came here on a regular basis for the past months and found nothing. Switched 3 times from one internet company to another, had to finish a hand made out of wood, human-sized lego like headpieces and forged a 1 m. long bee.

 

Sounds like a ton of stuff but it really isn't as it's been long time since my last update.

 

I want to dedicate this post to Allison who if I can recall had another child and I wasn't able to stop by and write at least a hey-dude-congrats, Hakomike who finally got back his faith into french people and a bag of gobbos and last but not least, to the miriad (not really) of loyal spanish readers who probably would give me a kick in the nuts if I forget to mention them.

On subject: 8x8x13 cm. sculpey firm sculpture. Just foil paper as body armatures and an expanded polysterene cube covered in air drying modelling paste for the tube.

 

I will explain who those chaps are and why I sculpted them. See 'em painted TOMORRRROW ! More thrills this week. Updates a gogo, baby!

 

Como al final casi todo lo que pongo por aquí tiene que ver con el título de alguna canción, me ha parecido oportuna la primera del último álbum (King Animal) de Soundgarden.

Quiero dar mis sinceras disculpas a los que hayan pasado por aquí regularmente solo para encontrar...nada! 3 cambios de proveedor de internet, tallar una mano en madera, peluquines estilo lego para personas en silicona, forjar una abeja...

 

Parece un montón de cosas pero nanai, porque ha pasado también una pechada de tiempo.

 

Dedico la entradita a Allison que creo que ha vuelto a ser papá y no he tenido tiempo ni de felicitarle, a Hakomike por recobrar su fe en los gabachos y un paquete de gobbos, y por supuesto a mi legión de seguidores acérrimos (es un decir).

 

Al turrón; Pieza n sculpey firm de 8x8x13 cm. Los armazones han sido bolas de papel de plata y para la tele, porex cubierto de pasta para modelar de secado al aire.

 

Quienes son esta gente y porque los he modelado, lo podréis saber... MAÑAAAAANA ! y verlos pintados y un montón de cosas nuevas durante la semana. Updates a gogo baby!

It's The Arts (co-op mode)

Last day I went to my friend's workshop to give him a hand with painting as he wanted a touch of color on his sculptures. Matter of fact our relationship started years ago with him being my teacher (mould making and sculping stone) then pals and now I somehow became the teacher. Both heads were painted the same day, having a break for dinner. Must give him credit for the sculpts and the pics. Sadly these are WIP shots as body will remain just ivory but I went further glazing and using pigments on heads..

El otro día fui al taller de un colega para echarle una mano con la pintura de sus piezas. curiosamente nuestra relación empezó siendo el mi profesor de moldes y escultura en piedra, luego colegas y ahora de algún modo le he podido enseñar algo a el. Las pinté en un mismo día con pausa para comer. El merito de la escultura y fotografía es suyo. Fotos de proceso, terminé con algún detalle extra pero el cuerpo se queda en marfil.

He's supposed to be an alien patriarch covered in robes to move thru the underworld without giving away its true nature (big enough to be a mutant or a robot).

 

Coments and suggestions will be kindly appreciaed as I'm not sure if I'm hitting the spot here.

En proceso... paré de pintarlo para hacer y pintar los demoñejos coloridos que habéis visto por aquí últimamente.

 

Se supone que es un patriarca alienigena, cubierto en harapos para pasar desapercibido en el submundo (es grande pero podría pasar por robot o mutante sin desvelar su naturaleza alienígena). Tambien quería darle un aire señorial... los que lo adoran lo atavian con ropajes...

 

Agradezco comentarios y sugerencias... no estoy seguro de ir por el buen camino.

Blu Horror #1

The roof is on fire!

Finally, the big brother of those three little pink guys I posted last month. As allways I'm not quite happy with iphone's pics as it takes way too much light, weirdly affecting colors i.e. tonge h.lights looks rough on picture.

 

 

 

 

Its nice blue skin was achieved using violet red, magenta and pink (all Vallejo model color) with hints of brown rose here and there to break homogenity  and suggest a fleshy nature despite its vibrant hues. Gold actually are metal paints mixed with regular ones (yellow, browns...)

 

I' almost done sculpting its partner, so chaos' butthole will spit a new horror into our universe (my shelf) soon this week.

 

 

Hell's Buttocks

 

Por fin el primo de sumozol de los petisos rosas que enseñé el mes pasado. Como siempre estoy asqueado con las fotos. El iphone (prestado) chupa mucha luz y altera los colores. La lengua por ejemplo no tiene un iluminado tan basto en la realidad (hay varios tonos).

 

 

 

 

Su fantabulosa piel azul contiene (Vallejo model color) magenta, rosa y rojo violeta con una pizca de marrón rosa aqui y allá para darle un toque carnoso y romper la monotonía cromática. El dorado es pintura metalizada mezclada con marrones y amarillos.

 

Casi he terminado a su coleguilla, así que el ojete del terror vomitará otro horror a nuestro universo (mi estantería) pronto. Esta semana. Puede.

Slow Hands

 

 

 

Fun process of blue (bigger) horror. They are supposed to be insanely frolicking all the time hence the raving attitude. It looked awesome armless but had to finish it. This fellow is already painted so stay tuned as I'll be taking pics and updating anytime soon. If anyone was guessing, it was done in premo and sculpey III.

Proceso del horror mas grande (azul) bastante jachondo. Se supone que están retozando alocadamente todo el rato de ahí que esté dándolo todo. Molaba mucho sin brazos, pero tuve que terminarlo :) Ya está pintado asín que no sus vayais mu' lejos que en brevas le saco fotos y actualizo. Está hecha con la masilla preferida de los gitanos, el "premo" y un poquillo de sculpey III.

VMC: Deck Tan + white drybrush,  citadel devlan mud + griphonne sepia (twice),  VGC brown glaze (cobra leather + thinner medium), VMC pale grey blue, black wash, Ivory highlights, brown rose for nipple and ears.

 

 

 

 

As allison sugested, it looks pretty calm, maybe it just had a meal. Wich leaves me with a question; should I add blood (tamiya clear kind of) on its hands or leave it as is ? I'm quite content as it is right now tho.

 

 

 

Hoy presentamos, don hombre lobo natural.

 

VMC marrón cubierta + pincel seco blanco, citadel devlan mud + griphonne sepia citadel devlan mud + griphonne sepia (un par de capas), una veladura marrón con VGC cuero de serpiente, o cobra o cualséa su nombre... + diluyente, VMC pale grey blue, lavado negro, luces con marfil, y marrón rosa para el pezón y orejas.

 

 

 

 

Allison me sugirió que el lobo estaba en una pose muy...relajada. Tal vez acaba de comer. Lo que me plantea una pregunta; ¿ lo dejo como está, que me gusta bastante, o le añado sangre (tamiya transparente) en las manos ?

Blast from the Past

 

Time ago (2006) I sculpted a werewolf for halloween... somehow i started painting it and, well...abandoned the project. Lazyness as always but also a halo of dullness detracted the fig from being finished. I remember I had in mind Rackham's wolflike miniatures when I made this.

 

But yesterday the (modelling) beast wake up. Recently I broke one of model's ears so it was agreat excuse to redo it; added more volume to eyebrows, beefed up hair, added fur to each side of the nose, smoothed out areas between feet and nails, added fangs and slightly bigger fingers. Everything greenstuff this time. Soon to be re-painted. Hope you like it better now.

Hace tiempo (2006) esculpí un hombre lobo para halloween... lo dejé a medio pintar y no colgué fotos por, bueno... aburrimiento. Era soso. Recuerdo tener en mente a los lobos de Rackham en aquel momento.

 

Pero ayer la bestia (del modelismo) despertó. Hace un par de días rompí la oreja del lobete y fué la excusa perfecta para rehacerlo. Co masilla verde rehice el entrecejo, añadí mas pelo, dejé mas fina la zona entre las uñas y los dedos, manos mas grandes... Espero que os guste. En brevas pintado estará.

Pink Horror #1

 

 

Ok, this year totally missed both St. Patty and its mandatory related post. Odd enough I spent the day drinkink beer and listening to House of Pain (painting and eggs w/ bacon was also in the menu).

 

The last blue test dummy o that set. The very 1st pink horror I sculpted weeks ago. I went for a magenta type of blue (ultramarine blue) lighted up to Azure, washed blue and glazed sparingly with purple.

 

So, hope you like it... happy St. Patty hangover!

 

On a side note, I got tons o views this sunday and guess what, most trafic came from pr0n sites =) weird but glad to see pron freaks love miniaures too!

 

PS: Now I think about it, maybe those where drunk people visiting

 

 

 

 

Ok, este año se me ha pasado. San Patricio y su post. Curiosamente estuve escuchando (sin acordarme de la fecha) House of pain y bebiendo cerbeza (y pintando y jalando huevos y bacon).

 

El último de los chicos de azul que hice para probar lavados y tintas azules; el primer horror rosa (y dale) que esculpí hace semanas. Quería un azul magentoso (toma ya!) así que elegí azul ultramar, lavado azul y subidas de luz a Azure con alguna veladura purpura.

 

Espero que os guste y feliz resaca de san Patty.

 

Como curiosidad este domingo he tenido muchas visitas. Muchísimas. Y adivinad... provenientes de paginas porno =) Extraño pero me alegro que a los salidorros les molen las minis!

 

Ahora que lo pienso, tal vez fueron borrachuzos...

Pink Horror #3

 

Never noticed how difficult is to photograph blues and at the time staying true to real life color. It's been a pain to shot so many pics (15+ pics to end up having just 4 half decent). Anways, in real life its, more vibrant and saturated.

 

This may be 1st time in life I achieve a true blue on its strict sense; While it's not just cyan, it doesn't feel to much magenta (ultramarine blue) nor yellowish (green) and still managed to avoid dullness.

 

Recipe: (VMC) Base: Deep Sky Blue , pretty close to magenta if you ask me, with a drop of transparent blue, followed by a layer (or two) of the same mix with added Deep Sky Blue. Lights were done adding Azure to the mix, then thin glazes of Transparent Blue to bring everything together. It surprised me a lot cause if propperly thinned it can adjust color saturation pretty nicely.

Nunca me había dado cuenta de lo chungo que es sacar fotos fieles a la realidad del color azul. De mas de 15 me habré quedado con 4 fotos y aun así no reflejan 100% el resultado, que es mas vivo.

 

Puede que sea la primera vez que consigo un azul tan "puro" en el sentido mas estricto ya que aunque no es cyan, se aleja de los magenta (ultramar) o del amarillo (verdes) y aun así queda interesante al ojo.

 

Receta: VMC. Base de Azul profundo (vale, es prácticamente cyan) con una gota de azul transparente mezclado. La siguiente capa tiene un poco mas de azul profundo. Las luces son fruto de añadir cada vez mas Azure e ir undiendo las transiciones con azul transparente diluido, que ade,as, bien controlado ayuda a ajustar la saturación del azul.
