So, wich color should I choose for Sentinel's face ? Classic pale pink ? Yellow / gold ? ...just chrome ? Gold is in the works but chrome (grey-silver, see photo) could be pretty neat too.

Well... I've been kinda busy lately (u shoud call shenanigans!) so here is a filler that might not interest to anyone but fills blogspace anyways. Monkey! made of clay, 20 cm.

BODY OF WORK

Body prototype for the Sentinel padody and 20 cubic mm sample figure for scale. I still need to smooth texture, work on existing detail and add new, then take a mold and cast the final piece.

Prototipo sólido del brazo derecho del robot, pendiente de corregir errores, añadir detalles y acabado final.

Definiendo la gama de colores principales para la figura (esquema de color 02) Existirá al menos otra variante cromática. Queda elegir el color APROPIADO de la cara del Centinela... un dolor de cabeza entre tonos carne, rosados, anaranj-amarillentos, grises y metalizados.

Defining main color palette for the figure (color scheme 02) there will be at least one more color variant. Now I just have to choose the RIGHT color for the Sentinel's face... that ranging from flesh hues to pinks, oranges, greys and metals.

DOWN 2 PIECES

Mi segundo intento con las coladas, y el primero con resina de poliuretano; un par de burbujas en la nariz fáciles de arreglar y por lo demas, perfecto.

Ahora lanzo unas preguntas: ¿ Preferis mantener un modelo o maqueta al número mínimo de pieza (la cabeza y el  cuerpo podrían ir unidos) o cuantas mas, mejor ? y ya que estamos, en caso de que el modelo disponga de una tirada limitada en caso de que alguien quiera hacerse con uno) ¿ cual sería tu postura ?
+ La vagancia me puede, prepintado, por favor.

+ Sin pintar y a cachitos; soy masoca y me gusta persoinalizar mi mierda.

My second attempt at casting, and my 1st with poliurethane resin indeed. Just a couple of tiny bubbles under the nose, no great issue so I guess it came out rather well. Now a quick test.

Do you like your kits with lots of pieces (not extras, just pieces that are meant to be assembled in one given way only) or the less parts the better ? Dunno if making the head to be one piece with its body and legs would make things easier to anyone interested or it would just spoil the fun.

Mark one of these two options if you were to buy a kit/statue/toy:
+ I'm lazy as hell, I want mine assempled and prepainted sir.

+ Gimme unpainted and unassembled stuff; I'm masochist and love to custom my shit.

Lately I've been working with more traditional mediums like clay. I was asked to do something related to the sea, and what'd have been better than an abysal fish ? It just lacks the bioluminiscent fishing tendril on its forehead :) Sorry for the last two poor excuses for a post, I'll try to get something done for this holydays. Ultimamente he estado trabajando con materiales mas convencionales como la arcilla (barro refractario de chamota media). Me pidieron algo relacionado con el mar, y que mejor que un pez de las profundidades !? ...solo le falta el zarcillo bioluminiscente en la frente :) Perdon por estas pobres excusas a las que llamo entradas ultimamente, durante las vacaciones intentare hacer algo mas en mi lnea. Buenas fiestas y feliz año nuevo !

UP TO DATE ?

It's been like 2 months since I started studying Art (applied to Sculpture) and I've been so "busy" working with clay, forging metal, mouldmaking, etc. that once at home (usually it's late night) I just want to play a videogame or read short tales (or comics like creepy) but nothing so compromising as sculpting nor painting.

The most interesting thing (to anyone visiting my blog I guess) I came up with is that facial prosthetic intended for special effects, much like in old fashiones movies. It's adapted to a 1:1 replica of my head (yup, I took a mould of my head and nope I'm not bald...yet) so the thing would only stick to my face, now I "just" have make a mould of it and cast in latex, silicone, foams and such stuff and then call someone to make up it into my face.

My teacher (a really cool fella and now a crony of mine) never dare to say a word about what I'm making since I'm usually left on my own when modelling, so he just teaches me about the mould process and compounds related.

Yadda, yadda... If you were thinking "oh what a nice Deep One you've done" congrats, you nailed it and Lovecraft would've been proud of oyu, otherwise, shame on you! ;)

Pido perdón a los interesados por mi blog, en los dos meses que llevo de clase (artes aplicadas a la escultura... he vuelto al mundo de la docencia, sic) he estado ocupado con el barro, forjando hierro, etc. asi que pese a tener ideas, cuando llego a casa (bien entrada la noche) lo máximo para lo que me quedan ganas es para una partidilla a los videojuegos, o alguna historia corta como los comics de Creepy pero nada que me mantenga tan absorto como pintar o esculpir.

Lo mas interesante (a mi parecer, para los que me visitais) que me he sacado de la manga es esta prótesis para la asignatura de moldes, estilo efectos especiales de las pelis antiguas (muerte a la infografía!). Está adaptada a una replica 1:1 de mi cabeza (si, saqué un molde de mi cabeza y no, no estoy calbo...aun) asi que la maldita cosa solo encaja en mi faz. Ya "solo" queda hacer el molde y usar el látex. silicona de platino, espuma etc. pertinentes y que alguen la maquille y la integre en mi cara.

Mi profesor (un tipo estupendo y a estas alturas, un amiguete) rara vez me dirije la palabra respecto a lo que modelo, limitandose a enseñarme acerca de las tecnicas referentes a moldes y los productos relacionados, asi que el tema y ejecución son cosa totalmente mia.

Y bla, blah... si habeis (no se porque escribo en plural) pensado "oh, que estupendo 'Profundo' le ha quedado" felicidades... habeis acertado, Lovecraft estaria orguyoso de vosotros, de lo contrario dejad de leer esto y coged un libro, ya!

Text only update, sorry but hope this will make someone's day (out of an experiment). Did you ever wanted a certain miniature (that doesn't exist yet) ? I mean a character (or any kind of stuff) from a book or a movie or maybe a crazy invention of your own...

This is some kind of " get out of your mind and get into my blog" post. You name it, I sculpt it. Just for fun. Your stuff may fall under light restyling/proportions-tweaking process (if necesary) to fit my other creations.

Feel free to drop me a line (even drawings iif you feel in the mood) and who knows, maybe in a month or two you'll see a pic of that bananakatana wielding frog-moose ciber-ninja warrior you allways dreamed about!

Supongo que no lo he dicho hasta ahora asi que, acepto vuestras ideas y sugerencias.

Esta vez solo texto, lo siento... pero tal vez pueda alegrarle a alguien el dia (con un pequeño experimento). ¿ Alguna vez soñaste con una miniatura en concreto (algo que no se haya hecho ya) ? Algo sacado de un libro o pelicula, o alguna locura diseñada por ti mismo...

Deja que salga de tu mente y entre en mi blog! Dejadme unas lineas (o algun boceto si os animais) y lo tendre en consideracion para esculpirlo (por diversion, no vendo nada mas que ilusiones) tras ligeras modificaciones (de ser necesarias) para adaptarlo al resto de las figuras que suelo hacer.

Quien sabe, quizas en un mes veais fotos de una miniatura de ese ciberninja sapoalce con bananakatana con el que siempre soñasteis ;)

Puede que este post se autodestruya en varios dias asi que aprobechad.

VMC: 945 magenta, 70957 flat red, 70827 lime green, 70524 thinner medium, 510 gloss varnish.

VGC: white.

Vallejo Wash: 73205 green, 73202 pale grey.

Citadel washes: gryphonne sepia, Devlan mud.

Fan-tasm (to be gone)

Hi,nearly unreadable pic here, but it's done on purpose to avoid spoiling the final model.

It's supposed to be a ghost, well a possessed fresh corpse (someone just killed the last combat round or maybe a sacrifice). The problem here is how to make it look ghostly, apart from the paintjob wich I've already planned.

The robes were meant to make him look like floating and despite half liking them (still need a lot of work to be done there) by the time you read this I'd be destroying them unless I get flooded by " U nutz man !!1!? " style messages wich I doubt.

Problem here is that, making cartoon / comic strip-like miniatures has a lot of style restrictions. It's not that I can't sculpt ultra realistic (well I ain't that good anyway) but that it won't fit, like masters of the universe style of character into a simpsons episode. You need to simpsonize it before.

So this mini feels IMO like a rackham mini in the mitrhil miniatures range, just sort of out of place sculpt and hence, I may resculpt it to have legs and look like levitating, looking more simple and not so standing out the rest of the line.

Results, in a week (or less).

Hola, inintelegible foto, si, pero a posta para no revelar mucho.

Se supone que es un fantasma o al menos un cuerpo reanimado (poseido!) por uno. El problema es que parezca un espiritu fantasmal un poseso, de ahi los ropajes raidos para simular el vuelo. Ya tengo la pintura en mente pero la parte inferior no me gusta, no "funciona".

Al usar un estilo de dibujos / tira cómica estoy muy limitado esculpiendo. No es que no pueda ultradetallar la miniatura, es que no quedara bien, jamas. Es como meter a He-Man en los simpsons. Pegote. A no ser que lo "simpsonices".

Asi que pese a estar a medias, veo la composición muy pretenciosa y fuera de lugar, como una mini de rackham entre un monton de minis de mithril, con lo cual según lees esto estare mutilando la miniatura (a no ser que me vea desbordado por mensajes tipo " noooo tioooo!!1! " cosa que dudo). La reharé simplemente con pies, medio levitando, pero nada de harapos fantasmales, simplificandola para que no "destaque tanto" entre la "gama" de miniaturas que hago.

Novedades esta semana (mañana mismo ?) permaneced en sintonía.
