This guy is from April 2019. Wanted to try several stuff here: something in the vein of warzone cybertronic, void syntha, etc.

A heavily augmentation focused corp, where the line between man and machine is thin, although obvious to the naked eye.

Got inspired by Baal from galaxy saga (found the image on Pinterest) and also by the fact I had a transparent marble and plastic rods I wanted to use.

Building the legs and detailing them was a pain in the ass, butt (puntastic!) in the end (triple pun combo) I honestly think anyone can do this, since it's a matter of time and materials not skill and looks super cool.

IMHO the Vlad Marica artwork is excellent as it is but may try to go the opposite way colour-wise and go for an off white look.

Used glow in the dark putty for the ass piece. The idea is that the putty reacts to light so maybe  would help reflect something thru the marble from the inside.

Abril 2019, parece que voy con un poco de retraso (basta con verme) respecto a publicar material. Quería probar cosas en la línea cybertronic de warzone (mutant chronicles), syntha de Void, etc.

La típica corporación profusa en ciber aumentos donde la línea que separa al hombre de la máquina es fina pero visible al ojo.

Inspirado por Baal de Galaxy Saga (desconozco, di con el de rebote) y por el hecho de contar con una canica y varilla de plástico esperando a ser usadas.

Crear y ensamblar las patas ha sido un auténtico coñazo, aunque una vez terminadas no puedo dejar de pensar que podría añadir esto y aquello, olvidando la prisa que tienes por acabar en el momento que estás liado con ello. La moraleja es que construir con plástico queda genial y cualquiera con más paciencia que talento puede sacar cosas chulas.

El arte de Vlad Marika es gal, pero como la canica es del color opuesto que el orbe de energía de la ilustración, mejor intentar el esquema de colores opuesto. Blanco y verde.

Para el culete usé masilla que brilla en la oscuridad con la vaga esperanza que algo de luz atravesará la canica.

Merry Christmas mother Fu... Wait, I ain't drunk (yet). It's been like 2 months since the start of this post. Retrieving old pics / vids has been a chore tbh.

It happens to us all. To accumulate more minis that we actually paint. I do not buy minis, I sculpt them, and still leave them unpainted or even worse, unfinished!

This was a Fanhunter resin mini (yellow dude) from the 90s, when they weren't ultra rare collector stuff so it wasn't heresy to buy multiples for converting and spare others at risk of not getting the whole line.

Ok so, I got him some swag: a Warhammer 40k 2nd edition ork boltgun faced down for a jetpack, and a rogue trader marine backpack cut upside down to be his chest plate. My sculpt Mojo was far limited then.

I remember I had to shave his hairdo, weapons and part of his front shirt, and use green stuff to sculpt the hood, glasses, weapons, insignia, gasmask, data pad, part of the backpack and belts to tie all together.

As it was a mashup I didn't feel like painting something I didn't like. Maybe I was around 19 when I attempted this (finger pics for reference).

Now jump to 21st century!

I wanted to zenithal prime and paint over with ink, but the mini still looked like crap to me so smashed even more stuff into him (see the fingerless pics) It comes to a point when crap turns into art. See old sci-fi flicks' spaceships being just lots of plasticard mashed up!

I used part of a sock bridle (the plastic stuff that holds the chipboard tags in clothes at stores) as a las cannon / telemetric camera. Then shaved the hood a bit to give it a better shape, shaved the backpack shorter and installed an antenna made out of two different sized plastic rods and a drop of PVA glue for the top ball.

That's pretty much it. A fancy paintjob after and a proper base transformed a steaming crappy mini I to a good looking crappy mini.

Feliz Navidad hijosdep... Espera, aún no voy doblado. Aún.

Nos pasa a todos: al final pillamos más minis de las que pintamos, acumulando plástico, resina y metal sin colorear. Pero lo mío es de traca porque las esculpo yo y no solo no las pinto sino que las dejo a medias, que gualtrapa!

Clásica mini de Fanhunter (ver el pavo de amarillo) de cuando no eran de colección ultra raras, así que lo mismo te comprabas 2 iguales para guardar, que podías la única de un modelo y al final la cole sin acabar. Herejía!!

Básicamente, le quité el pelo, armas, y el dobladillo de la camiseta, y añadí capucha, gafas, mascara de gas, armas, insignia en el brazo y todos los tubos y correas para aguantar el mamotreto. Todo ello aderezado con una mochila del revés de marine Rogue tardes para el pecho y un bolter orco 2a edición apuntando acia abajo a modo de mochila voladora.

Tal como lo hice, intenté pintarlo, pero me dio pereza. O asco. A saber. Tendría 19 años, locos 90...

Y mágicamente estamos en el siglo 21. A saber porqué me dió por recuperar este truño. Añadí hasta quedarme agusto; con la brida de las etiquetas de ropa le hice un láser de hombro, o cámara telemétrica... Con unas varillas de plástico la antena, la bola con una gota de cola blanca, quitarle material a la capucha para alterar la forma...

El pintado, imprimación cenital y tinta roja a aerógrafo. Y los detallitos a pincel. Moraleja, un buen trabajo de pintado y algunos detalles extra pueden transformar un truño de mini en un truño de mini bastante resultón.

Ya no le tengo el asco que le pillé hace 2 décadas. Ala, la siguiente entrada la tengo lista, así que a comerse toda la verdura, que en un tris la subo.

Have stuff enough to launch at least 3 posts but need yet to find time to shot some photos. For the record, this past month rescued an injured wild quacker parrot (this green dude is a time sucking mofo) and got a commission request from a fellow reader so hadn't spare time enough to take those damn pics.

I hope to sort this out on weekend tho, so stay tuned. Just wanted to ensure anyone passing by I'm still alive and kicking. And while doing so, slip a Dio meme.

Second batch of Deep Madness kikstarter came in, and probably I'll enter a friendly gundam gunpla contest, coworkers and wifes death match, so expect a fair amount of gundam shenanigans around. YOU might be the jury.

BTW did anyone get stuff for this black Friday? I got some boardgames dirt cheap: Adrenalin, Gold West, way of the panda, new Angeles, meeple circus, ethnos, x-com and ra.

Me ha llegado la segunda remesa de minis de Deep Madness kikstarter, y tengo entre manos un concurso de maquetillas gundam entre los del curro y las novias / esposas, así que con suerte o por desgracia veremos robots por aquí y puede que os use de jurado.

Alguien ha gastado panoja en el black Friday? Apuntadme unos juegos de mesa: Adrenalina, Gold West, way of the panda, new Angeles, meeple circus, ethnos, x-com y ra.

RGB - the demon with a heart.

This is how my wife calls this nurgl, nergal, demnogongis... Whatever guy. This was done quite a lot ago as a St. Valentine's Day gift... That came late.

Meh. This Dmon is both Warhammer (body-mouth, Color) and warzone (necrotech arm) inspired.

I had 3 options as I didn't know about him opening its chest himself (weird pose for the scale I use), handing a free hugs panel or what. In the end it was half spreading the chest half wielding a dark legion like stuff instead of an arm.

Part of my Red Green (this one) Blue (past post spec ops) series. Dunno what else to add, so feel free to ask.

Así lo llama mi esposa, Demonio con corazón. Ñoño pero funciona. Tiene un rollo nurgle, nergal, demnogongis... Demonio de Mugrel, vamos. Era un regalo de San Valentín. Tardío.

Bah. Este Dmoño tiene una pizca de güarjamer (el color y la boquita/rotura en el pecho) y de warzone (la necrotecnologia de la Legión Oscura, brazo).

No sabía si hacerlo abriéndose el pecho con ambas manos (raro con esta escala que uso), un cartel de abrazos gratis o que.

Parte de la trilogía RGB, Rojo (siguiente entrega) Verde (este) y  Azul, el madero de la entrada anterior.

Had this mini painted weeks ago (August indeed) and somehow, continuing with the updating streak, found it fitting p to post it on October the 1st.

Sadly here we live harsh political times, hate and fake news being common tools of trade. Have to admit I have friends on both sides, cops and citizens, unionists and separatists... Be who you want but no one can take for granted charges against peaceful ly sitting people. I mean, there's always dicks out there but fly-kicking a granny? Old people aren't phisically prepared for anything close to 'rioting'. And still won't full blame them cops. It's just the people who give orders, who have political and economical interests (both sides). And the people who let them get their brains washed and refilled with senseless hate. So sad. Asimov wrote that violence is incompetent's last resort.

Tom Morello for the sake of it. On poverty.

But enough of nonsensical tantrums: this "law enforcer" was sculpted long ago. So long it got his head broken. Not to say the paintjob started out like crap.

Fixed it and gave him proper base and paintjob which started with Vallejo spray can blue (hobby paint whatever).

If you had to take a thing about this post be it varnishing metal concerns. I tried on it Scale Color Metal and Anchemy set and oh my, it's like NMM but done in true metallic. Then you matt varnish it and totally kill the effect. So I varnished metals parts over with gloss (may I had used satin instead) varnish.

Next post I'll try a different approach on metals and varnishing. Oh, I forgot... That blue. It's our old Citadel Enchanted Blue.

Bueno, otra mini de hace unas semanas (Agosto)... Con el tinglado que se lió hace 2 años en mi tierra me parece oportuno subirlo ahora (que tengo las fotos) el 1 de Octubre.

Por desgracia la situación política de aquí da pena, por parte de ambas partes del conflicto y la verdad, como decía Asimov, la violencia és el ultimo recurso del incompetente.

En fin. Este agente de la ley fue esculpido hace ni te cuento, y medio pintado truño Style.  Al pobre agente se le rompió la cabeza y no sé ni cómo. Verlo en este estado me animó a terminarlo.

Un poco de cianocrilato, masilla plástica Vallejo para la junta y spray Vallejo azul.

Si os tenéis que quedar con algo, que sea el tema "barnizar metálicos"; probé el set de Scalecolor metal and alchemy y wow, genial. Es como pintar NMM pero con metálicos de verdad. Pero cuando barnizado ultra mate... Te lo cargas.

Así que barnicé de nuevo las partes metálicas a pincel con brillante.

Más cosillas pronto. Como decía Vash en Trigun, paz y amor madafacas.

Green Stuff World Color Shift paint test review on old Cyberpunk vehicle.

Had those sci-fi resin vehicles (OOP Scotia Grendel) for decades so why not giving something new a try?

I had something subtle in mind to use colorshift chameleon paint colors on but had to try on something first. The OG car was ridiculously big for my minis so took a quick mold from one half of the car and boom, we got a new model in town.

Casted it in acrylic resin leftovers (hope Pablo Escobar won't see that pic), those dental plaster products work nice for this kind of projects. Sanded, filed and re sculpted few stuff and called it ready to go (all you see now was done in Dec 2018).

Painting process is straightforward: prime glossy black (or black then gloss varnish) then airbrush it several times building up the effect.

This is meant to be used with an airbrush. If not, it will take ages and lots of coats to work. A final gloss varnish coat will help sell the effect.

Everything else was just airbrushed from black to white then glazed yellow.

My thoughts you ask? Well. This is subtle even when overdone like I did. At a gaming distante you may not distinguish between a colorshift painted model and one just painted metal and glazed with "candy" vibrant inks. Models themselves don't move nor rotate alone so...

I like those but they feel geared towards either iridiscent army paintjobs, like doing chaos marines quick or display pieces (have yet to see this done right, as a technique not as a predominant gimmick on the model).

Can't add much due the nature of the product so I tried a rotating mini vid to ensure you get the message (magenta to yellow shift)

Hope that awfully tedious crap I wrote and recorded helped anyone in some way.

Vehículo descatalogado de Scotia Grendel que compré en juegos Ian fronteras hace eones.

Como era un poco tocho, saqué un molde, reproducí con yeso Alfa y realicé los retoques oportunos.

Ha sido la excusa perfecta para probar (diciembre 2018) los colorshift chameleon paints de green stuff world.

Que me parece? Pues que es demasiado sutil el efecto como para que merezca la pena. A la distancia que están las piezas en la mesa y que no se mueven solas, el efecto es imperceptible e indistinguible de pintar metálico y dar una veladuras de tinta estilo Candy para tintar.

Me gusta, pero como digo es un producto al que se le va a sacar poco rendimiento a no ser que lo uses para ejércitos iridiscentes o alguna pieza de exposición donde esto sea un más a más y no el elemento central de la miniatura.

La aplicación se realiza del siguiente modo: imprimación negro brillante, o negro y barniz brillante después, y varias capas de dicha pintura con aerógrafo ya que a pincel conseguir que el efecto funcione es más tedioso y complicado.

Al final lo más práctico ha sido grabar un mini vídeo para que se aprecie el cambio de magenta a amarillo.

Lightbox Studio (green stuff world) review. Moar contrast.

Can some bended plasticard and a couple of usb led strips improve how the internet gits will approach your insanely skilled paintjob?

Well, yes.

This lightbox Studio is dirt cheap so no matter it looks flimsy, it works.

UPDATE: Forgot to mention those LEDs have a ton of intensity and flashing modes. To someone knowing photography it may be useful, to me that just want to turn on the lights, it's a pain in the ass.

Below I'm sharing a pic of this I took with a camera (2006) and the new ones are just cellphone pics with the lightbox Studio.

As I revisited the mini I noticed the lack of actual contrast, so I added edge highlights and proper base texture.

Bottom line would be, investing time, efforts and/or money into proper photographing your minis will pay off for sure. The real topic tho, is what proper photos mean. If you ask me, the closest the pic looks to the mini in real life, the better the picture is. I say so, cause I know for sure there are tons of people that reinforce the looks of their work thru photo editing which it's fine as long as you stick true to how the mini actually looks to the naked eye. Those tweaks for contrast that ain't really there are not my cup of tea.

Pueden un par de plásticos doblados y unos led USB mejorar la impresión que de ti tienen los internets? Pues si.

Este Lightbox Studio es barato, pero funciona.

ACTUALIZADO: Olvidé decir que los LEDs tienen un montón de intensidades y modos diferentes. Para el que sepa de fotografía quizás sirva de algo, pero para quien sólo quiera encender luces y sacar fotos es una tocada de huevos.

Para muestra un botón, fotos del 2006 con cámara y fotos de ahora con el Lightbox y un móvil.

He aprovechado para ponerle base decente y subirle el contraste en las luces.

Como cierre decir que si, merece la pena invertir tiempo y/o dinero / esfuerzo en fotografiar tus miniaturas porque consigues que se aprecie la calidad del trabajo. Lo discutible es tal vez, que consideramos fotos de calidad; en mi caso que refleje fielmente la mini tal como es en la realidad. Con el tiempo he aprendido que el camino para obtener buenas minis no es acabar de darles ese toque de contraste o intensidad de color mediante retoque de fotos, sino pintando.
