Test subject 01

I've been planning to switch to another paint brand or at least give something else a try.

I'm gravitating towards Scale 75 paints. Problem is, feeling I need vibrant colors for my comic like style sculpts, Fantasy & games range of paints seem to be spot on, yet I like the regular scalecolor hues better.

The easyest for an undeciding stupid like me was to sculpt 2 minis and try a set from both ranges (a review is in the works).

I decided it to be red as I feel I'm lacking good ones so I got the Creatures from Hell paint set and the fire & blood set from scalecolor.

A slave lavor for just a review but well couldn't thing anything better or that took less effort without bein bored.

I'm revolving arround the idea (Demons Is what I'll try the reds on) of the Bane, demons from the old and obscure crucible game, and the plane shifting beings from the very 1st WH40K roguetrader era.

Demons are bastards from another dimension who seek others' ruin, natural predators of mankind an all living forms. They engineer new dudes as they see fit in order to fulfill their needs, making "demon larvae" out of Void Rock. Once those "baby" rocky demons are bathed with the blood of sentient beings they become "living demons" and the more poor chaps are brought into sacrifice the mightyer the demon will rise.

That said, demonic skin, hides a rocky "vanilla" demon inside. The rock has to ressemble marble or living galaxy pattern-like rock and the skin itself is something like a symbionthe from heck popular comics.

The concept behind THIS particular dude is that a greater demon was slain (his head chopped in half) so the remains of its half face begain to grow arround the rocky vanilla demon again.

That's why his fist is a face indeed. Expect him to be half red half black. Cheers!

Saludos!

Ace of Base

I'm kinda lost lately. Have done a bunch of hobby but I'm not taking pics anymore nor in the mod for posting as I feel I'm not adding much to what it's shown on pics.

From now on I'll be updating from my cellphone and a bluetooth keyboard.

Those are 2 custom bases 40x40mm DM wood base with milliput textured wit Green Stuff World's rollmaker.

Used the dremel to sand the sides in angle, then painted on Vallejo's plastic putty (same bottle as their model color paints) to hide Dremel's scratches then sanded back with those nail polish sandpaper sticks.

The second one is for a "big project" so I had to triple pin a 40x40mm (monster) and a 20x40mm (cavalry) base.

I'll be writting down and schedule future updates so this might be the time to stay tuned. I promise.

Hope You like them or at leas found something useful or entertaining.

Finished United States of Japan second novel BTW. Recommended if you like mech stuff.

Blue Moon Legends - Red Dragon

Let me be clear about the miniature; I haven't sculpted it, so it's just my paint job.

It belongs to blue moon legends and it's a token. It's fairly different from magic and the box contains it all ( about 8 complete factions, and expansions ) so there's no need to dish extra money.

You basically have to equal or surpass your opponent's combat value which may be earth or fire, and element switches thru the you go I go kind of game. Whoever can't keep the pace or decides to retreat makes the opponent win a dragon. Get 3 and you win the game, make your opponent go thru his deck and you win once he/she runs out of cards.

An amazing almost text free 2 player self contained card game by Reinier Knizia. It gets better the more you play against the same person so it's lovely for couples.

-----

Strangest things

Ahoy, oldhammers ! That's a tough one. It started as a parody of those old school Realm of chaos lost and the damned kind of revival chaos minis. That weird intrincated armour/ body was sitting for too long so I went the mash up route with it.

I repurposed an old genestealer kind of arm armature (intended to be part of one of my very first minis shown in on this blog). Next step was to fit a lazy set of tendrils so, what could go wrong with slapping a giant tongue instead of a head (all hail Nyarlatothep) adding teeth around as a finishing touch.

Weird to say the least. Hope that freaked out any of you who still dare dwelling around.

The lost and the Damned (realm of chaos).

666 the callcenter of the beast (vallejo hobby paint & ak interactive ultra matte review)

"Dial 666 for ritual support". Dunno how such dumb idea came to my mind, I bet every single human being with a gadget nowadays has struggled either with technical support or got bombed by fancy phone offers.

This was a 'quick' project to get back to business (true dedicated sculpt, not that half assed green blob) AND to show / review spot on stuff:

The guy was primed with the new Vallejo ( the "lle" in vallejo is actually pronounced as in "YEah" not like "LEmon" so stop that already dudes ;) ) Hobby Paint spray cans, a red one in this given case.

In a nutshell: kick ass. IMHO  far superior to Army Painter's as it leaves no grain or texture, noticeable when you pinwash with oils i.e. They also come with 2 caps, a fat one and a skinny cap. Can't reccomend them enough.

Meet the AK interactive Ultra matte varnish. I loved Vallejo's till I found that. Vallejo matte poliuretane varnish is quite matte but AK's is silly matte, to the point the minis look like claymation figurines. It also doesn't leave that undesired milky finish some varnished produce. Won't leave Vallejo's sometimes slightly satin-ish matte behind but will defo stick with AK's.

Hope that was informative or at least a fun timewaster. See ya pals.
